It’s Disney’s turn to tackle the classic Carlo Collodi tale. The blockbuster directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks will be on Disney + in late summer 2022.
This was revealed during a quarterly meeting with the investors of the American entertainment giant. According to the American magazine ColliderDisney Chief Financial Officer Christine M. McCarthy has indicated that the new film will launch at the end of the fourth quarter of the fiscal year, which may result in a release somewhere between July and September 2022.
Work on the live-action film began in 2015, passing through the hands of several different directors and undergoing several script changes. It is finally the veteran Robert Zemeckis who had the mandate to bring the project to port, supported by the screenwriter Chris Weitz, to whom we owe the remake of Cinderella, in 2015.
However, actor Tom Hanks has always been tipped to tarnish the role of puppeteer Gepetto, even though he officially confirmed his participation only last year.
The role of Pinocchio will be defended by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Cynthia Erivo will be the Blue Fairy while it is Joseph Gordon-Levitt who will give his voice to Jiminy Cricket. Luke Evans will play the ugly Coachman.
The production of the film ended earlier this year, we already know that it will be exclusively intended for the distribution platform Disney +.
