Ideally located at the foot of Strasbourg Cathedral, in the heart of Europe, it is an essential place to visit. Its original architecture, which one would think straight out of a fairy tale, offers the various facets of regional art through the centuries. Wood carvings, wall frescoes, spiral staircases, viewing angles are all details that bear witness to the richness of the past that inhabits this magical place.
The Gothic foundations of the building date from 1427 and it was in 1467 and 1589 that the three floors of ornamented timber were built which make it so special. In front, figures sculpted in great detail exalt the virtues advocated by the humanist ideal of the Renaissance which blend medieval nobility and ancient culture. The 75 windows at bottom-of-bottle stained glass windows which adorn it warmly illuminate the interior of the rooms.

Until April 30, 2022, Three Fish Sauerkraut, the emblematic specialty created by Guy Pierre Baumann, is the undisputed star of Maison Kammerzell.
For 4 months, the various lounges will welcome up to 800 people each day, which will require a daily delivery of 100 kg of fresh fish (Halibut, Salmon, Haddock)… And 1 tonne of specially prepared sauerkraut each week!
