Jean Lafrenière, son of the former commissioner of the Permanent Anti-Corruption Unit (UPAC) Robert Lafrenière, will become the new deputy inspector general of the City of Montreal.
Succeeding Michel Forget, Jean Lafrenière, who arrives from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), is considered a police officer with a lot of experience, Félix Séguin told LCN.
Robert Lafrenière’s son was notably deputy director of the provincial police, but also deputy director of criminal investigations during his almost 25 years at the SQ.

He is also recognized for his skills in cybercrime and has led several major investigations at the SQ.
Jean Lafrenière will therefore be the second to Inspector General Me Brigitte Bishop. However, he will never be able to succeed him in this position since he is not a member of the Quebec Bar, which is considered a prerequisite.
