Rennes could find a major event in women’s football in 2025. The Roazhon Park has been shortlisted, this Tuesday, March 22, to host matches of the 2025 Women’s Euro Football Championship. The French Football Federation (FFF) has announced twelve cities selected. “The FFF will designate the ten host cities definitively selected next June, following the general examination of the various application files that UEFA will carry out in April.“, explains the federation in a press release.
The city of Rennes had already received in 2019 matches of the Women’s World Cup, through to the quarter-finals. To receive Euro 2025, France’s candidacy must be accepted. The application files will be submitted on October 12, 2022 and the designation is expected for December 2022. Poland has already formalized its application, as have several Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden) united in a common application.
Along with Rennes, the cities of Grenoble, Le Havre, Lens, Lyon, Metz, Nantes, Nice, Paris, Reims, Troyes and Valenciennes are also pre-selected. The FFF emphasizes in its press release “the remarkable quality of the files presented by the host cities applying for the organization of this major women’s football event.“
