Roads in disarray: users invited to denounce the worst potholes

CAA-Quebec is calling on motorists to denounce the poor condition of the roads by voting for the worst roads in the province by May 3.

“With just a few clicks, the public has the opportunity to play an active role in conveying a clear message to decision makers. Taking at most a minute of your time has the power to attract millions in investment on the paths taken daily by road users,” said Sophie Gagnon, Vice-President Public Affairs and Road Safety, in a press release on Wednesday.

Major potholes, uneven pavement, erased markings, dangerous infrastructure: the non-profit organization invites road users to mobilize en masse to shed light on the roads that most need repairs.

This is the eighth year that CAA-Quebec has launched its “Worst Road” spring campaign, which has already enabled ten roads to be crowned thanks to more than 70,000 votes.

Many of them have also been repaired thanks to the actions of the organization, she added in the press release.

To this, the organization added that only 56% of the road network would be considered to be in good condition, according to the most recent provincial budget.

“And still according to the data published by the government, it would take a total immediate investment of more than 20 billion dollars to put the network back on its feet”, can we read.

Road users who wish to participate can vote until May 3 on the site piresroutes.com.
