The A25 North, between exit 90 of the A20 and the entrance on rue Notre-Dame Est, will be completely closed. To enter Montreal, motorists will instead have to transit via Highway 20 West via exit 82, which leads to the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.

Access to the ramps leading from Route 132 to the A25 North and to the entrance to Rue de l’Île-Charron will be prohibited. Île Charron is only accessible via the A25 South.

Call for public transport

As of October 24, only two lanes per direction will remain open in the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, in anticipation of major infrastructure repairs.

As of October 31, three out of six lanes will be closed. Only one lane will be open towards the South Shore and two towards Montreal, until November 2025.

The Ministry of Transport thus invites road users to consider public transport more, in view of the construction site. Since Tuesday, shuttle services linking the South Shore and the Radisson terminus in Montreal have been free for three years.

Hindrances in the West Island

The A40 is to be avoided as far as possible in the west of the island of Montreal, the eastbound section between the Morgan exit and the next one will be closed on Saturday. Only two out of three lanes will remain open in the area from 11 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday morning.

As for the Saint-Pierre interchange, the ramp leading from Route 138 to the A20 West will also be closed over the weekend. Motorists will have to make a detour via exit 65 of the A20 East. Saturday and Sunday, there will be one lane less between the interchange and Clément Street on Route 138 eastbound.

A construction site in the Dorval interchange

Asphalting work on the A520 and in the Dorval roundabout sector is planned for the night of Sunday to Monday. From 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning, access to Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau airport via the A520 West will be prohibited. The Dorval terminus of the Société de transport de Montréal and the parking lot on the south side of the Dorval station will also be inaccessible. The westbound A520 will be completely closed between exit 2 and the A20.

Rehabilitation work on drinking water pipes in Dorval also requires “long-term” closures in the area of Fénelon Boulevard and the A20, indicates the Ministry of Transport. A complete closure of exit 54 notably came into effect on Thursday, until November 25.

Note that in the borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, rue Jarry Est westbound, south of the A40 at avenue Papineau, will be closed from October 24 to November 4.

The Ministère des Transports encourages the public to consult Québec 511 to plan their trips. To find out about all the roadblocks and detours in the Montreal area, go to the Mobility Montreal website.
