The CRS are now assisted by the border police to identify violations. Road checks will be carried out from the sky by helicopter. From the ground, the machine is almost undetectable.

On theA31 near Metz (Moselle)more than 100,000 vehicles pass each other every day. On this All Saints’ Day bridge, Tuesday, November 1, they are under close surveillance. 300 meters above the asphalt, in a helicopter, the police scan the traffic. “We will retain everything that is an offence, in particular safety distance, dangerous overtaking”explains Fabrice Hennequin, brigadier of the aeronautical police of Metz. In the back, a CRS misses nothing of what happens on the road.

He has just noticed a car that does not respect the safety distance. Immediately, he warns his bikers who intercept the individual on the ground. “I saw a plane while driving on the highway, but I didn’t think it was the police at all”said the motorist. The helicopter is almost invisible from the road. This extraordinary tool is effective according to the police. Surveillance is put in place especially during weekends of major departures.
