If you own a motorized two-wheeler, technical control will soon be mandatory. The government is currently working on its terms and timetable. The Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, made his first proposals on the morning of June 24.

After years of discussions, the government plans to make technical inspection compulsory for motorized two-wheelers in early 2024. It should concern all vehicles registered from 50cm3, and will be simplified, with four times fewer checks than for cars. The technical control will be compulsory five years after the first entry into service of the vehicle, then every three years.

The federation of angry bikers considers the measure ineffective

For the Federation of Angry Bikers, which had demonstrated on several occasions, this European obligation will remain ineffective in terms of road safety. The user of motorized two-wheelers is perfectly aware of his vulnerability. So he is still a little careful not to commit suicide by getting on a two-wheeler that is not in good condition.“, estimates Didier Renoux, general delegate of the federation.
