The ministry is working on a small revolution: a fine but more points less on the license for minor speeding. It would concern the excesses lower at 5 km/h. The subject is debated.

A very commented project Thursday, May 26, day of great departure for the weekend of the Ascension: lat the end of the withdrawal of points on the driving license for minor speeding, while the fine will be retained. Motorists welcome this project. “I think it’s good because sometimeswe get fooled within 2 or 3 km and we take a point”, says a man.

“For 5 km/h, I don’t think it affects safety. It may be because we looked at the counter badly”testifies a young driver. The measure would thus apply to excesses of less than 5 km/h of the authorized speed. For the association 40 million motorists, we must go further and “amnesty for minor speeding violations”, says its general delegate, Pierre Chasseray. In 2020, 7.2 million tickets were issued for these minor overruns, or 58% of all speeding violations.
