After the green, orange and red lights, you may soon have to get used to the yellow light. Intended for pedestrians, it will be tested in 7 cities with the aim of helping them cross safely.

A light that turns yellow is a new color that will appear at the end of our pedestrian crossings. In Versailles (Yvelines), where the device must be tested, the inhabitants are divided. “Very good idea”argues a woman. “If it’s like cars going orange, will that really matter? I don’t know,” said another. The system will be implemented in several large cities such as Nantes or Toulouse.

Associations remain skeptical

The idea is simple: when the light is yellow, pedestrians already engaged can complete their crossing. The others must stop. Similar experiments already exist such as the countdown fire in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) and are adopted by the inhabitants. “It avoids wild crossings”, thinks a man. For the associations, this is not enough because often the responsibilities involve vehicles rather than pedestrians.
