Road obstructions | Several closures on bridges leading to Montreal this weekend

The weekend promises to be another busy one in terms of obstacles on the Montreal road network. Several bridges will also be avoided by motorists.

This is particularly the case of the Papineau-Leblanc bridge, over which Highway 19 passes, between Laval and Montreal, which will be completely closed in both directions from Friday 10 p.m. to Sunday 11 p.m.

The Ministry of Transport anticipates increased congestion in the area and recommends that road users who plan to travel there allow more time to get to their destination.

The Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel will also be completely closed at night in both directions, between Montreal and Longueuil, from Friday 11 p.m. to Saturday 8 a.m. and from Saturday 11 p.m. to Sunday 9 a.m.

To get around this obstacle, the Mobilité Montréal organization invites motorists to use the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.

The Honoré-Mercier bridge will also be closed, but only in the direction of Kahnawake, from Saturday 5 a.m. to Monday 5 a.m. Traffic will then flow in the opposite direction, one lane in each direction on the portion normally leading to Montreal.

In the Saint-Pierre interchange, Mobilité Montréal warns that the ramp leading from Route 138 (coming from the Honoré-Mercier bridge) to Autoroute 20 will therefore be closed from Friday 11:59 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.

Route 138 will be completely closed in the east direction, between rue Clément and the interchange.

In Montreal, Pie-IX Boulevard will be completely closed in the south direction, between Hochelaga and Ontario streets, from Friday 11 p.m. to Monday 5, for work on the rapid bus service (SRB) project.

Users of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) will not be left out as the service will not begin until 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, due to a systems update. Bus shuttles will operate from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. between Brossard and Central Station stations.

This reduced schedule is in addition to that already in place at night since October 15 and according to which the service is interrupted earlier, from 10 p.m. until the reopening of the network the next day.
