Several sectors of the road network will be avoided this weekend in the metropolitan region, including the Saint-Pierre interchange, the Honoré-Mercier bridge and highways 10 and 40. The holding of the Beneva Montreal Marathon will also cause, as expected, its lot of obstacles in the heart of the island.
This was reported by the committee responsible for the management of public works, Mobilité Montréal, on Thursday.
First, along the Saint-Pierre interchange, the ramp leading from Route 138 east, coming from the Honoré-Mercier bridge to Highway 20 east, will have to be closed from Friday evening to Monday morning. Motorists heading towards the city center will therefore have to calculate more travel times.
A little further south, in Brossard, the ramp leading from Autoroute 10 west to Route 132 east and Longueuil will suffer the same fate between Friday and the end of the day Saturday. Between Saturday morning and Sunday night, the Honoré-Mercier bridge will be closed towards the South Shore. In the opposite direction, towards Montreal, it will be a single lane.

On Highway 40, in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, traffic will be completely interrupted in the west direction, for three nights of the weekend, between exit 41 leading to Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants and the entrance next. The entrance located at rue des Pins will also be closed by default.

Furthermore, traffic in one direction continues on the Victoria Bridge, between Montreal and Saint-Lambert, until September 25. From 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., only traffic towards Montreal can circulate, then from 3 p.m. to 5 a.m., it’s the opposite.
Marathon and demonstration
As previously reported, traffic and parking on several local streets may also be affected by the Beneva Montreal Marathon, which is being held this weekend. The organization immediately suggests parking your vehicle outside the course if you want to use it on Saturday and Sunday.
Sherbrooke Street, for example, will be closed between Viau Street and Pie-IX Boulevard on Saturday morning, for the 1, 5 and 10 kilometer events to take place. This will be the same for an entire portion of Rosemont Boulevard and Viau Street around Maisonneuve Park.
On Sunday, for the half-marathon and the marathon, several major roads such as Saint-Laurent and Saint-Joseph boulevards or Notre-Dame and Saint-Hubert streets will be blocked in different sectors. A map of obstacles is available on the event website.
A national demonstration of the Common Front for our public services is also organized at Jeanne-Mance Park, at the intersection of Mont-Royal and du Parc avenues, Saturday at 1 p.m. According to the organizers of the event, thousands of people are expected and the movement of the crowd therefore risks causing various obstacles to traffic.
