Road obstacles | Construction holidays under the sign of building sites

The start of the construction holidays promises to be complicated on the roads of Greater Montreal, as several obstacles are expected this weekend. In particular, users will have to deal with the closure of the Saint-Pierre interchange, towards the airport, and of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel towards Montreal.

Travelers who wish to go to Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau airport will have to leave in advance to catch their flight. The Saint-Pierre interchange ramp that connects the Honoré-Mercier bridge to Highway 20 westbound – that is, towards Dorval – will be closed from Friday 11:59 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.

” The Ministry [des Transports] recommends to road users who will have to travel in the sector to allow more time to get to their destination, in particular to the airport”, informs the government through a press release.

The interchange is not its first closure in recent weeks.

The ramp leading to Route 138 West from Highway 20 West will also be closed overnight from Friday to Saturday. It will be the same for route 138 east, between exit 2 and the Saint-Pierre interchange, overnight from Sunday to Monday.

For its part, the Dorval interchange will be reopened to traffic at night starting Friday.

The South Shore

Like every week, the Jacques-Cartier Bridge will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday evening for the fireworks.

Entry to the island will also be more difficult this weekend: it will be impossible to access the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, towards Montreal. From Friday 11:30 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m., Highway 25 North will be closed between exit 90 and the entrance from Yves-Prévost Boulevard.

Saturday and Sunday, night closures are also planned in the southbound direction between exit 4 and the entrance from Île Charron, as well as avenue Souligny Est, between rue Dickson and rue Honoré-Beaugrand. Beware of early-bird motorists: the closures last until 8 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.

In La Prairie, intensive work will take place on Highway 15 South from July 22 to 24. Two of the three southbound lanes, between boulevard Matte in Brossard and boulevard Montcalm in Candiac, will be closed Saturday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 6 a.m. to Monday 5 a.m.

The North Crown

Road obstructions will not spare Laval. A complete closure of Highway 13 is scheduled between exit 12 and Notre-Dame Boulevard on July 21, 22 and 23 between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. Saturday, between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., traffic jams are to be expected, while one of the three lanes will be used for the work.

The northbound Highway 13 service road at Sainte-Rose Boulevard will also be closed on July 22 and 23 between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.

We confirm the closure of highway 440 westbound, between exit 22 and route 117 (boulevard Curé-Labelle), on the nights of July 21 to 23.

Eastbound, between exit 22 and Francis-Hughes Avenue, Highway 440 will also be inaccessible on the nights of July 21, 22 and 23.

Three Rivers

In Trois-Rivières, the Laviolette bridge will undergo intensive work over the next two weeks. Only one lane will be available from Sunday, July 23, 6 p.m. to Thursday, July 27, 6:30 a.m.

Before hitting the road, Quebec recommends that users consult Quebec 511. The Mobility Montreal site can also be used to better plan trips, to avoid obstacles.
