Road accident | Child hit in Saint-Léonard

A child riding an electric scooter was hit by a vehicle in a collision that occurred in the Saint-Léonard area on Tuesday morning.


The vehicle hit the victim around 11:50 a.m. at the intersection of Viau and Métropolitain boulevards. According to initial information, the pedestrian was a child riding an electric scooter. He was seriously injured in the upper body.

Police located the victim on the ground after receiving several calls. He was conscious when he was taken to hospital. “His life is not in danger,” said media relations officer Véronique Dubuc of the Montreal Police Department (SPVM).

The accident happened while he was crossing the pedestrian crossing heading east on Metropolitan Boulevard. The car was making a right turn at the same time. The driver, a 57-year-old woman, suffered nervous shock.

The perimeter erected around the scene should be lifted shortly, added Officer Dubuc.
