Several elected members of the National Rally in New Aquitaine are filing a complaint for insult and defamation against the PS president of the region Alain Rousset, reports France Bleu Périgord. They criticize Alain Rousset for his remarks in an interview on Tuesday July 19, in which he compared the ideology of the National Rally with Nazism.

In this interview granted to the site “Aqui.fr”, Alain Rousset evoked the work within the Regional Council with the elected RN: “Each session we are treated to a charge of great violence against immigration, which means that these far-right people have remained followers of a pure race which brings us back to Nazism”says Alain Rousset.

“It’s purely outrageous”

“These remarks are inadmissible, intolerable”, it’s a slip-up”, “it exceeds the terminals”reacted Edwige Diaz, leader of the RN in the New Aquitaine region and deputy of the Gironde, on France Bleu Périgord. “Mr. Rousset insults the RN regional councilors who were democratically elected, but he also insults the 1,262,000 inhabitants of New Aquitaine who voted for Marine Le Pen in the presidential election”, defended the chosen one. “Nazism is an abominable, reprehensible thing that no one hopes to see again one day and to confuse the elected officials of the RN and Nazism is purely scandalous”, also writes Edwige Diaz in a press release.

According to France Bleu Périgord, Edwige Diaz filed a complaint along with four other elected RNs, Caroline Colombier, MP for Charente, Annick Cousin, MP for Lot-et-Garonne and Damien Obrador, regional councilor for New Aquitaine.
