Rivière Saint-Charles in Quebec | A woman’s body recovered

(Quebec) A body was discovered in the Saint-Charles river, in Quebec, on Thursday. It could be that of a young woman missing since May 29, when two people fell into the river.

Posted at 7:30 p.m.

The body was found near rue du Haut-Bord, in the Duberger – Les Saules district, according to the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ).

As part of this disappearance, the SPVQ had searched for the two people for several days. The body of 29-year-old Kevin Timneu Fezeu was spotted on 1er June, some 400 meters from where the man and a young woman had fallen into the water, in the Duberger-Les Saules district.

Active searches on the watercourse ceased on June 3, but the SPVQ continued to assess the situation in order to proceed with targeted search interventions.

“Today, as the nautical conditions allowed given the rain of the last few days, the SPVQ nautical unit mobilized on the waterway in question. Around 1:10 p.m., the police located the body of a woman in the water,” the SPVQ said in a statement.

The identity of the body has not been confirmed. The case was forwarded to the coroner.

In early June, it was not possible to publicly establish the link between the two victims, due to the ongoing investigation.

“As long as we have not found the two people, it remains an investigation where we cannot rule out the criminal cause, although there is a very high probability that it was an accident”, had then recognized Sergeant David Poitras.
