Rivière-des-Prairies | Three crime scenes linked to attempted murder

(Montreal) A man was shot and injured in the Rivière-des-Prairies area, in the east of Montreal Island.

The victim is a 24-year-old man, discovered bloodied by the police on the 1D Street, near 24e Avenue, after a 911 call on Sunday night, around 1:30 a.m.

“The 24-year-old man was quickly transported to hospital with significant injuries to his upper body. According to the latest information obtained from the hospital center, he would now be out of danger,” indicated officer Jeanne Drouin, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).

The motive for this attempted murder is currently unknown and the police investigation promises to be complex since there are three crime scenes to analyze.

A vehicle used in this attempted murder was found an intersection further, on Boulevard Gouin Est. The damaged vehicle was abandoned there, but it was not there that the shots rang out, leading the police to a third location, this time much further to the east.

“The event would have occurred at the intersection of boulevard Maurice-Duplessis and avenue J. J-Joubert, in Rivière-des-Prairies. Shell casings were also located at this location,” said the SPVM spokesperson.

The three scenes were protected to facilitate the work of investigators. The canine unit was deployed and forensic identification technicians were called to the scene.

“The circumstances surrounding this event remain unclear at this time […] At this time, there have been no arrests,” said Officer Drouin.

The SPVM investigation continues.
