Rivière-des-Prairies | Teacher accused of sexually exploiting teen

A physical education teacher in eastern Montreal is accused of sexually exploiting a teenage girl 15 years ago. For the third time in a month, an employee of the Center de services scolaire de la Pointe-de-l’Île (CSSPI) is the subject of such accusations.

Sébastien McDuff faces one count of sexual exploitation of a teenage girl. He was then in a position of authority or trust with the complainant. The acts of a sexual nature allegedly occurred between 1er May 2004 and June 30, 2006 in Montreal.

The 46-year-old accused currently teaches at Jean-Grou high school, in the Rivière-des-Prairies sector, according to the establishment’s website. It is not known if he was at this school at the time of the events.

Accused last January, the resident of Repentigny was to appear before a judge Monday morning at the Montreal courthouse. However, his appearance was postponed to Wednesday.

The Crown prosecutor, Mr.e Anna Levin, clarified in court her intention to request “new, more restrictive release conditions” during the appearance. Mr. McDuff’s current conditions prevent him from approaching only the Complainant.

In recent weeks, this is the third case involving a CSSPI employee to make headlines for accusations of a sexual nature. Teacher Dominic Blanchette recently admitted having sexually interfered with five girls and young teenagers over a period of five years.

A month ago, Véronie Campeau, a specialized educator from the CSSPI, admitted having sexually exploited a vulnerable student for years. They even formed a “couple” in full view of those around them. However, the teenager had sounded the alarm by confiding in a school teacher.

The Minister of Education, Bernard Drainville, launched a “general inquiry” two weeks ago to shed light on the “multiple denunciations and allegations of misconduct of a sexual nature or inappropriate behavior” in the school network.
