Rivière-des-Prairies | Shots fired at a parked vehicle Sunday evening

A man who was in a parked vehicle was targeted by gunfire late Sunday evening in Montreal, in the Rivière-des-Prairies neighborhood. No one was injured in the incident, but the suspects were still at large as of Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Sunday evening, shortly before Montreal police officers were called to intervene at the corner of André-Ampère and Copernic avenues, in Rivière-des-Prairies.

When they arrived on scene, police found a parked vehicle that had been the target of shots fired from another vehicle, which had passed nearby before fleeing.

A man was in the parked vehicle, but he was not injured. However, at least one projectile impact was found on the vehicle.

“The victim has difficulty explaining why (he) would have been targeted by the shots in question. He’s cooperating with the police, obviously, at this point. As for the suspects, they remain to be identified,” indicated agent Raphaël Bergeron, spokesperson for the City of Montreal Police Department.

As the investigation begins, police believe two people were in the suspect vehicle. The Montreal police force did not provide a description of this vehicle early Monday morning.

Investigators will notably try to check whether surveillance cameras installed in the surrounding area have captured images likely to reveal details that could advance their investigation.
