(Montreal) A woman died and another was injured, Tuesday evening, in the fire of an apartment building located on rue de Versailles, near rue Forsythe, in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies –Pointe-aux-Trembles, in Montreal.
The fire was reported to emergency services around 7 p.m. Upon arriving on scene, firefighters located an unconscious woman inside one of the homes. They tried to resuscitate her, without success, and the woman was pronounced dead on the scene, reports the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).
Another woman who was at the scene was evacuated to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
The circumstances surrounding this fire are currently unknown, indicates the SPVM, which finds itself responsible for the investigation since one person died.
The scene is currently being protected so that it can be examined by investigators, who are expected to arrive at the scene in the coming hours. The investigation is continuing.
