Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles | Bank robbery suspect arrested

Montreal police announced Tuesday the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of an armed bank robbery that occurred a few days earlier in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles.

Junior Frantz Maître, 28, was arrested on March 4, around 9:20 p.m., a little more than 24 hours after having committed the crime for which he was accused.

Officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) took the opportunity to search his home, located less than a kilometer from the bank in question, where they were able to recover some evidence.

The accused then appeared at the Montreal courthouse on March 5 to face several charges including robbery, pointing a firearm and assault with a weapon. He will remain detained pending further proceedings.

The investigation that led to his arrest was led by the SPVM’s Major Crimes Section with the support of the Tactical Intervention Group, among others.

Recall that the robbery occurred on March 3, 2023, around 5:50 p.m. Brandishing a handgun, the suspect then ordered the customers present to kneel. Then, he then demanded that the staff give him cash, nearly $7,000, before fleeing in a vehicle.
