(Montreal) Two arson attacks damaged four other vehicles on Friday in Montreal. They were all stationed in the Rivière-des-Prairies district, in the northeast of the city.
No injuries were reported.
About 24 hours earlier, nine cars and a school bus had been ravaged by fire during three suspicious fires in the boroughs of Saint-Laurent, Saint-Léonard and Montreal-North.
There is no doubt for the investigators of the arson squad of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) that Friday’s disasters were voluntary, because in the two places where they took place, traces of products fanning the flames were found.
The first fire was reported around 2:45 a.m. by a call to the 911 emergency telephone exchange. The fire ravaged a car parked in the driveway of a private residence on Gouin Boulevard, near the intersection of 6e Ave.
The other was called to 911 around 3:30 a.m. On a property on Avenue Pierre-Blanchet, near 4e Avenue, three automobiles were damaged by fire.
During both events, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SSIM) managed to extinguish the flames and prevent them from spreading to residential buildings.
The four automobiles that were targeted by the attacks were to be examined later in the day on Friday.
