Rivière-des-Prairies | A restaurant targeted by gunfire, a customer injured

(Montreal) A restaurant was the target of gunfire Thursday evening in Montreal, while customers were there.

Calls were made to 911 around 11:30 p.m. for shots fired at the facade of an establishment on avenue André Ampère, near boulevard Armand-Bombardier, in the Rivière-des-Prairies sector, in the northeast of the city.

The City Police Department (SPVM) indicates that a 53-year-old female client was injured in the lower body “superficially and possibly by a shattered window”. She was transported to a hospital center.

“According to initial information, one or more suspects fired shots at the front of the restaurant and then fled before the police arrived. Shell casings were found on the ground,” reports a spokesperson for the SPVM, agent Caroline Chrèvrefils.

At the start of the night, the police continued their investigation and reported no arrests.

Investigators and forensic identification technicians analyzed the scene to better understand the circumstances of the event. Possible surveillance cameras installed nearby will also be checked, mentions the SPVM.
