Rivalry Series — women’s hockey | Hilary Knight gives victory to the Americans against Canada

(Kitchener) Captain Hilary Knight scored in overtime and the Americans beat Canada 3-2 on Thursday as the Women’s Hockey Rivalry Series continued.


The United States won the first three clashes.

Knight beat Ann-Renée Desbiens 28 seconds into overtime. A goal thanks to a one-timer, on a power play.

Emily Clark was punished at the end of the third period.

Abbey Murphy and Kirsten Simms also scored for the winners, who benefited from 32 saves from Aerin Frankel.

Clark and Danielle Serdachny were the Canadian scorers.

Desbiens made 19 saves.

Last month, the Americans ruled the roost 3-1 in Tempe and 5-2 in Los Angeles.

The brigades will cross swords again on Saturday in Sarnia.

The following games will be presented in Saskatoon and Regina on February 7 and 9. It will end on February 11, in St. Paul.

The Rivalry Series sets the table for the world women’s hockey championship which will take place in Utica from April 3 to 14.
