The Outaouais Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) said Thursday that it was preparing a relocation plan.

This plan provides that the 68 residents of the establishment will be moved to two sites, namely Château Logue, for the majority, and to the Maniwaki Hospital for those who require more care.

“The CISSS de l’Outaouais wants to reassure the population and families that everything is done for the safety and well-being of residents during the relocation process. In addition, the nursing teams are organized to ensure the care of the residents at the two sites where the residents will be temporarily accommodated, ”we said in a press release.

Located in a flood zone, the CHSLD de Maniwaki, also known as Foyer Père Guinard, had to be evacuated twice, in 2017 and 2019, again in May, due to the rise of the Désert River, a tributary of the Gatineau River.

A new establishment should open its doors in 2024, alongside the Maniwaki Hospital, in order to permanently relocate the residents of the CHSLD of Maniwaki.
