Claiming to want to support its drivers and delivery people in the face of rising fuel prices, Uber has introduced new fees for consumers intended to offset this increase.
“Passengers will pay an additional $0.50 on all races,” the company announced in a press release on Friday. For Uber Eats orders, there will be an additional $0.35 per delivery.
This supplement will be kept at a minimum for the next 60 days.
The company reserves the right to adjust this supplement over the next few weeks depending on the evolution of fuel prices.
“This temporary measure aims to reduce the impact of the high price of gasoline, and not to cover the entire cost of a full tank,” the company said.
