Rio Open | Alcaraz and Norrie in the four aces

(Rio de Janeiro) We are heading towards a resumption of the final in Buenos Aires, last Sunday, at the Rio Open.

Spaniard and favorite Carlos Alcaraz, defending champion in Rio and winner in the final against Cameron Norrie last weekend, reached the semi-finals thanks to a 6-4, 7-6 (0) victory over the Serbian Dusan Lajovic. For his part, Norrie, seeded second, defeated Bolivian Hugo Dellien 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Alcaraz, 19, hasn’t been playing his best tennis, shooting himself in the foot with numerous unforced errors and a lack of consistency on his first serve. The defending US Open champion, however, did what it took to win.

He will face the winner of the duel between Sebastian Baez and Nicolas Jarry in the next round.

For his part, Norrie will now find Bernabe Zapata Miralles in his way, who defeated fellow Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in another quarter-final match.

Facing Dellien, Norrie had some trouble at the start of the game, multiplying the unforced errors. But once the Briton found his bearings, he was able to destabilize his rival and he raced to victory.
