Rihanna Will Voice Smurfette in Upcoming ‘Smurfs’ Animated Movie

Rihanna made a surprise appearance on the last day of CinemaCon, the annual convention of cinema owners in the world, in Las Vegas (USA), Thursday, April 27. She came to promote a new animated film by Smurfs, in which she will be the understudy of Smurfette. But Rihanna will not only lend her voice since she is also expected to record original songs and produce the film.

The feature film will be directed by Chris Miller and should be released on February 14, 2025 according to the specialized media Deadline. “I hope this will allow me to earn ‘cool points’ with my children one day”had fun the singer, currently pregnant with her second child.

Big voices behind Smurfette

This is the fourth time that a film adapted from the universe created by Peyo will be made, after The Smurfs, The Smurfs 2 (2013) and The Smurfs and the Lost Village (2017). But it will be the first time it will be produced by Paramount Pictures, while it was Sony for the first three.

Rihanna will not be the first singer to embody the blue character. Two big stars have already lent their voice to the Smurfette: Katy Perry in the first two films then Demi Lovato in the last opus released.

The pop superstar made a noticeable return to the stage with his Super Bowl halftime show on February 12 in Glendale, Arizona (USA). Before this performance, she had not set foot on stage for seven years. Aged 35, the artist has indeed focused on her brands of makeup, lingerie and fashion. His participation in the next film of Smurfs suggests a return of the star to the front of the artistic scene.
