Right Knee Operation | Gabriel Landeskog will miss the whole of the next season

(Denver) Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog will have surgery on his right knee on Wednesday and the team expects him to miss the entire 2023-24 season.

The 30-year-old Swede sat out in 2022-23 due to a right knee injury. He attempted to make a comeback late in the campaign in hopes of making the playoffs, but was unsuccessful.

In his absence, the Avalanche were eliminated in seven games by the Seattle Kraken in the first round.

Landeskog helped the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup in 2022. He had 11 goals and as many assists in 20 playoff games.

He then underwent his second knee surgery in 2022 last October, and he was due to be out for 12 weeks.

Landeskog is still under contract until the end of the 2028-29 season.

Selected by the Avalanche second in the 2011 draft, Landeskog had 248 goals and 323 assists in 738 NHL regular season games.
