Richard Vilbert, farmer and organic oil producer in Rubempré

Richard Vilbert grows oilseeds in Rubempré, which he processes to offer us rapeseed, hemp, flax and camelina oil

Rubempré is a commune of the Somme located north of Amiens. It is on these lands that Richard Vilbert went from conventional to organic. For Richard, this requires longer rotations and earlier sowing. We must play with the weather with even more finesse and above all no longer expect chemistry to correct the vagaries of nature. Observation is essential.

We must find the gestures that we made 50 years ago

The transition to organic was quickly imposed on him. First by reducing inputs and then gradually to 100% organic. To eat healthy, you have to cultivate healthily and therefore rediscover the actions of our grandfather farmers who, 50 years ago and more, did not use phytosanitary products. The various cakes, the residues of the pressing, will make it possible to feed animals.

After the various harvests, the oilseeds are stored and cold pressed on demand. Cold pressing allows the oils to retain their flavors and nutrients, including the famous omega 3. Oils that will not withstand high temperatures. We will use them for seasonings. In a 1l or 0.5l bottle, they will be protected from the sun’s rays.

Vary the taste pleasures for the seasonings by using oils produced on our Picardy territory such as rapeseed, flaxseed, camelina or hemp oil from Richard Vilbert.

Oils to be found in organic stores or in certain shops such as Esprit Fermier in Glisy, the producers’ store.
