Two new faces in the French team. Hervé Renard called on Louna Ribadeira (Paris FC) and Inès Benyahia (Le Havre) for the double confrontation against England during qualifying for Euro 2025, on May 31, in Newcastle, and May 4, in Saint -Etienne.

“Inès I almost [l’appeler précédemment], ultimately I didn’t do it. She achieved great performances with Le Havre and is coming off an accomplished season. She worked a lot and developed her register (…). Louna, I’ve been following her for a while. The fact that Eugénie Le Sommer is not there, that Vicky Becho is suspended for the first match, allows us to count on a second attacker capable of playing centrally with Marie-Antoinette Katoto. She is a player of the future. I think it’s good for her to get a taste of the French team and why not convince us to call her up for the Olympic Games.”the coach justified himself.

In addition to Le Sommer, convalescing since her right knee operation, Griedge Mbock is the other executive absent from the list. Renard declined to give the nature of his injury. “She is in the recovery phase. To avoid taking any risks in these two crucially important matches, it is better to let her prepare so that she is 100% ready for the Olympic Games”, the coach justified himself. The latter also decided to do without Amel Majri despite his return to form: “You have to make choices and that means giving up some. It’s the competition that wants that.” An obvious downgrade for her, but also for Clara Matéo, who was not selected.

The Blues will still have two matches to play, after this double confrontation, before entering the Olympic Games on July 25, against Sweden (July 12), then Ireland (July 16) again on behalf of the qualifications for Euro 2025. In this more distant perspective, they are ideally launched with two victories in two matches (1-0 in Sweden and 1-0 against Ireland).
