The Rhône, Meuse and Haute-Loire are in turn placed on orange alert for storms expected in the afternoon and evening, Météo-France announced on Saturday July 20, mentioning a “significant risk of violent phenomena”These departments join Allier, Ardennes, Aube, Cher, Côte-d’Or, Loire, Marne, Haute-Marne, Nièvre, Puy-de-Dôme, Saône-et-Loire and Yonne.

“Significant uncertainties persist over the location, timing and intensity of the storms” expected in the afternoon and evening “after a calm first part of the day”explain meteorologists.

According to Météo-France, the stormy situation requires “special attention to the extent that there is a significant risk of violent phenomena”. “Strong thunderstorms accompanied by hail, intense precipitation, significant electrical activity, strong gusts of wind, will sweep the area on orange alert from south to north”adds Météo-France, which predicts an improvement in the situation during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
