Review of the album “Made by These Moments” by the band The Red Clay Strays

Not so long ago, in Alabama, two bands were getting by, strong in covers of Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top and the like, like a bunch of others. And then, joining forces, they developed the desire to create, a crowdfunding campaign followed, a first song went knock knock knock on TikTok and there was a massive response. It was 2022. Here we are two years and two albums later, the Red Clay Strays are well established at RCA and their southern concoction is more tasty than ever, southern soul fueled by gospel, country, rockabilly, everything that is eaten hot. No One Else Like Me, Disaster, Drowning, Momentstheir most flowing songs are reminiscent of The Band in a The Weight and the Stones period Sticky Fingers : it’s intentional. The fact is that this well-soaked music meets a crying need for roots and authenticity. Originality? Others. Brandon Coleman has Bob Seger in his tone, the guitars of Zach Rishel and Drew Nix are complementary as were those of the Allman brothers. I can’t wait for the dazzling popularity in their country to reach our shores!
