Review of the album “For Sad and Kind People” by Vice E roi

It was five years ago already. The duo with the slightly haughty name Vice E Roi (Jayana Auger and Guillaume Lessard) stormed our ramparts, twice rather than once: the albums The sick hours Then Hell in Other People didn’t give any quarter. Not nice orchestral pop songs, which earned them both success and opprobrium. After a bad patch, here is Vice E Roi again, different, tested, less attack, holding out his arms without brandishing a sword. Fight like a good guy, This is the song that sets the tone for this album. “I don’t take up arms / I don’t hurt / Embracing an enemy is priceless,” the lovebirds sing in unison. The electro-medieval approach has gained in grip as much as in poignant moments, and Blaise Borboën-Léonard’s clever production gives the measure of the ambient despair. “I think therefore I self-destruct / I need a nasty change,” the duo admits in Get out of bed
