Less than three weeks before the start of the road cycling season, the teams are making their media debut. Before returning to Spain for a second pre-season internship, the Breton B&B Hotels team has just taken stock of its ambitions for the new year which is beginning. She will rely heavily in particular on Franck Bonnamour.
After a prosperous 2021, Franck Bonnamour’s status has changed
Omnipresent from the start to the end of the season spent for his first year under the colors of B&B Hotels, Franck Bonnamour, who had until then been mainly a teammate at Arkéa-Samsic, was revealed in 2021. In particular on the Tour de France, the first in which he participated, regularly at the front and elected super combative. Not far from winning the Tour du Limousin and Paris-Tours, with two second places, he also took 6th place in the Grand Prix de Plouay.
This is what I came to look for by changing teams
In 2022, the Lannionnais will have a new status. He will notably be the great leader of his team. “For me, this is positive. It gives me more responsibilities and that’s what I was looking for by changing teams. Today I have what I wanted before. Now we have to prove that last year was certainly a good season for me, but that it is not over yet. That there is even better to do and that I can still improve compared to last year when I had a good level. Corn I don’t necessarily have additional pressure“.
Waited, he says he wants to stay the same
The former European junior champion (2013), who will celebrate his 27th birthday in 2022, knows that despite everything, he is expected. “I will be expected, inevitably, by the team and the general public. But that’s not stressful for me or anything. I stay as I am. In any case, I think I have my head on my shoulders. _I’m going to ride the bike that I know how to do, and that I love to do_. Just because I’m going to change my status a bit doesn’t mean I’m going to change who I am, on and off the bike. I want to have fun on the bike, that’s the main thing for me, and the results will come with it“.
Winning will be the 2022 goal, regardless of the race
Franck Bonnamour took a step forward in the mountains last year, “but this is still an axis of progress“. And the one who extended his contract until 2023 with B&B Hotels, also hopes to win in 2022 because, despite a big season last year, he did not raise his arms.”This is the only thing that I missed. That will be the goal in 2022, regardless of the race. Whether it’s at the start of the season or in a bigger race, it doesn’t matter. It’s really my desire and I worked all winter with this little thought and this goal of raising your arms“. He will compete in his first race on January 30 at the Grand Prix La Marseillaise.
