“Quebec’s most anticipated holiday event is back in force on Sainte-Catherine Street where more than 400,000 spectators will gather to celebrate its 70e anniversary, “said Montreal downtown in a press release released Tuesday.
The event will take place on November 19.
It had been canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to health measures put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first Santa Claus Parade in downtown Montreal took place in 1925, at the initiative of the Eaton’s department store. The sector’s commercial development company took over the reins in 1995, after a few years without a parade.
