Return of good weather after the storm

A clear sky for the weekend follows the storm that hit Montreal on Thursday and Friday. Environment Canada predicts an alternation of sun and clouds on Saturday during the day and the return of the sun on Sunday morning.

20 to 25 centimeters of snow fell on the metropolis late Friday afternoon, confirmed Environment Canada. “Quebec received 13 centimeters; but there are less in Saguenay, we are talking about six centimeters. In Estrie, we had less snow, because part of the precipitation fell as rain, ”listed Friday late morning Simon Legault, meteorologist for Environment Canada.

The snow removal operation on Montreal streets began on Saturday morning. About 10,000 kilometers of streets, bike paths and sidewalks need to be cleared of snow. Nearly 8,000 incentive parking spaces are available for motorists. Snow removal progress is available on the Ville de Montréal website.

For Saturday, the vast majority of flights departing from Montréal-Trudeau airport were on time. Several flights scheduled to land in Montreal during the day, however, were delayed or canceled altogether.

Most of the customers affected by a power outage had been supplied by Hydro-Québec on Saturday morning.
