In the aftermath of the abortion of the Tampa Bay Rays shared custody project, Mayor Valerie Plante said Friday that the city could not afford to block the development of this land for another possible stadium project.

“This site is exceptional, it is highly coveted. It is a strategic site for commercial development, economic development, for housing,” said Ms.me Plant. “You can’t sit on a pitch like this and wait forever. »

Peel Basin had been identified as the only viable location for a new sports stadium near downtown Montreal.

Valérie Plante said she had already informed the Montreal Baseball Group of her position. “They understand very well,” she said.
