In our new meeting “Campaign Office”, to understand everything and know everything about the proposals of presidential candidates, we are today interested in the purchasing power of retirees. This is one of the major concerns of seniors.

A hundred retirees are gathered in a lotto near Nice. The 13 hours campaign went to meet these often strongly mobilized voters. But three months before the election, the candidates’ proposals are not really full. “I don’t think there are big changes”, regrets Josiane Sadouin. “I looked at these proposals, but will they be able to follow them?”, asks Benjamin Cohen. All deplore a considerable drop in their purchasing power as retirees than during their careers.

Betty Fantino, heavy goods vehicle driver, retired for two years and former Yellow Vest, earns 1,000 euros per month. “Everything increases (…) We can’t keep up,” she said. “I worked from the age of 16 until I was 62, and I have to tighten my belt every day. It’s not normal”, disputes a senior. Pensioners would be the big losers in access to care. “I don’t want to get treatment, I delay every time”, says Sylvia Mei, because “Mutuals are very expensive”, confirms another retiree. All retirees met by journalists from France 2 have in any case assured that they will vote next April.
