A rather special medical center has opened its doors in Albi in the Tarn. It only welcomes retired doctors due to the lack of staff in the region.

Dr Bernard Salesa is a 76-year-old former doctor. He came out of retirement to do vacations in a somewhat special medical center in Albi (Tarn). “I am sensitive to the fact that people do not find an appointment when they need it, (…) of course you have to get back to the level. It’s the stress of work that comes back”, he says. A dozen doctors retirees will, here, take turns to ensure permanentincense.

“I no longer have a doctor”

Marie is the practice’s very first patient. “I no longer have a doctor. The doctors I had are all gone. As I have health problems, I need a general practitioner”, she explains. For the first day of opening, two doctors were present. One auscultates, the other takes care of the tools computers, accompanied by a doctor from the CHU. The new health center should make it possible to unclog the emergency room of the hospital. “We have a vital public health problem”emphasizes Etienne Moulin, president of the Council of the Order of Physicians of the Tarn.
