Bernard Leblanc will act as president and chief executive officer, Maison Simons announced in a statement released Tuesday. For the first time, after five generations, the company will not be run by a family member.

The 57-year-old will become Chief Merchant and will continue to serve on the Family Council and the Optional Council. The company founded in Quebec in 1840 by John Simons now has 15 stores, including nine in Quebec, two in Ontario, three in Alberta and one in British Columbia.
