Suspended for a week, flights from southern Africa were re-established on Saturday, December 4. French nationals must submit to drastic restrictions.
After being stranded for a week in southern Africa following the suspension of airlines, the first travelers arrived in France on Saturday, December 4. Each passenger, vaccinated or not, must show a negative test 24 hours or 48 hours before undergoing another on French soil. The measures created a wait, and aroused the anger of travelers at Roissy airport (Val d’Oise).
Now, only European nationals or diplomats can enter France from the ten southern African countries, classified as scarlet red. All must undergo a 10-day quarantine, even if they test negative. Restrictions necessary according to government spokesman Gabriel Attal due to the threat of the Covid-19 variant, Omicron: “66 million French people are waiting for a strict framework to be put in place to protect the country from this variant.” Travelers who do not respect it risk a fine of 1,500 euros.
