In addition to wearing a mask, which will again be compulsory in the streets of Paris from Friday, December 31, several restrictions have been announced for New Year’s Eve in the capital, between Friday and Saturday. In order to limit social interactions and contamination, all drinking establishments will close at 2 a.m., Saturday and Sunday. What’s more, “dance activities in all establishments open to the public will be prohibited”, specifies the police headquarters.

On the public highway, “gatherings of persons giving rise to the consumption of alcoholic beverages” are prohibited, say the authorities. In many areas of the capital, listed in this press release (PDF format), the consumption of alcohol and the take-away sale of these drinks will be prohibited from Friday 6 p.m. to Saturday 6 a.m.

Paris is not the only city to adopt restrictions for New Year’s Eve. In the Oise, Compiègne and Pont-Sainte-Maxence will apply a curfew for minors under 16 years old. In Compiègne, “the circulation and parking on public roads of unaccompanied minors under the age of sixteen (…) are prohibited on the night of December 31” from 10 p.m. until January 1 at 6 a.m. in several districts.
