Restos du Cœur: 160,000 new claimants

In a market in the Lille metropolis (North), the collection of Restos du Cœur began on Friday March 3 in the morning. The year was special, between rising prices and uncertainties in household budgets. “We try to do according to our means. We are not very rich, but we try to help those who are even less rich”says a man. “It’s important to give even a small thing”says a woman.

Young people particularly affected

The number of beneficiaries increased by 22%, on average, at the national level, compared to the same period last year. In total, more than one million people now benefit from the Restos du Cœur service throughout France. Among them, 160,000 new applicants, half of whom are under 25 years old. Until Sunday March 5, thousands of volunteers are mobilized in 7,000 supermarkets in France.
