Restaurant burned in Saint-Léonard | Teenager arrested

A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the arson of a restaurant in the Saint-Léonard borough last Sunday, the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) announced Tuesday.

Around 3:35 a.m. that night, emergency services were called to respond to a fire that had broken out in the establishment located on Jean-Talon Street, near Langelier Boulevard. A window had been smashed and an incendiary object was found inside. The fire caused only minor damage and no one was injured.

A few hours later, the SPVM arrested the suspect in a home in the LaSalle district. He appeared Monday in the Youth Court to face charges of arson, possession of incendiary materials, break and enter with criminal intent, and possession and use of explosives.

Note that the restaurant in question had already been targeted by an arson attack on the night of September 20. Anyone with information about this event can contact 911 or their local station. It is also possible to communicate anonymously with Info-Crime at 514-393-1133 or on the web.
