resignation but big bucks, his lifetime salary revealed!

With just 44 days in office as Prime Minister of the UK, Liz Truss breaks a record. However, the one who met Queen Elizabeth II just before her death leaves with peace of mind given that she will be entitled, like all British prime ministers, to a fairly substantial lifetime salary. Indeed, according to the directive which governs the functioning of the British government, Liz Truss can claim the allowance for public service expenses (PDCA), i.e. an allowance fixed at 115,000 pounds, which is equivalent to €131,000per year and for life. “The fee is a reimbursement of expenses incurred for necessary office expenses and secretarial expenses arising from their particular position in public life”, says the British government website.

This rather advantageous law was created in 1991 by Margaret Thatcher’s chief of staff following the resignation of the Prime Minister of the 1980s. However, this compensation, frozen at 115,000 pounds since 2011, is affected at the beneficiary’s discretion, c that is to say that a former prime minister can decide not to benefit from it or to only receive part of it. Given the length of her term, some would like Liz Truss to give it up. “She should refuse. I think it’s the right thing to dosaid this Friday, October 21 on ITV Keir Starmerthe leader of the Labor Party. She did 44 days of mandate, she is not really entitled to it, she should refuse it and not take it.”
