The inhabitants of Pas-de-Calais are having difficulty recovering from a month and a half of exceptional floods. In the most affected villages, some residents want to sell their homes, but the task is proving difficult.

A month and a half after the floods, water is still present in the village of Clairmarais (Pas-de-Calais). Some owners have decided to leave, even if it means selling off their homes. “We will lose a good part of the money invested, but we can no longer stay in a house where we no longer feel comfortable even though we had good memories and good times shared with friends”regrets Vincent Maquignon, affected.

Some manage to sell their goods quickly

While some people have difficulty selling their goods, others manage to sell despite everything. Homeowners managed to sell their flooded house. “The owners will not carry out any work. They will pay the insurance sum to the buyers so that they can carry out the work themselves in order to restore the accommodation to their liking”, comments a real estate agent. It will not always be easy to sell a flooded house in the coming years in Pas-de-Calais.
