Like a tornado, the war swept away everything in its path. near kyiv, bischiv (Ukraine)the city was bombarded for weeks. The houses are reduced to crumpled sheet metal and heaps of beams. The school building having held up, the inhabitants returned to collect a few toys and picture frames. Teachers do not recognize their classrooms. “It’s so hard when it’s children who suffer”says the headmistress of the school, crying.

After more than a month on the front line, the roads are now deserted. Russian troops retreated, but left villages destroyed. A man returns after fleeing a week earlier. “While three weeks, we were bombed, we saw people killed, we saw houses burnt down. We’ve been through hell”he testifies. In the south of the country, teams are trying to deactivate mines. A little further on, in a village that had been occupied for several days, the Ukrainian flag was once again floating in the air. The inhabitants are proud to have resisted the Russian soldiers.
