Thirty new residents have just arrived at the EHPAD de Montbron in Charente. They are garden gnomes. They will soon be joined by other companions. This is the theme of the decoration planned for spring and summer. A theme chosen by the residents themselves. Additional challenge: keeping garden gnomes alive indoors. It’s a note of gaiety and fantasy for this retirement home.

Paulette, one of the residents of the Montbron retirement home, is proud to ask the journalist a question: what do you call people who like garden gnomes? The “dwarfgardenphiles”? A pun around the word “dwarf”? Not at all, they are “nanomaniacs”, laughs Paulette. The smiles are dazzling: some play with the garden gnomes as with dolls.

The municipal bulletin of Montbron gave a helping hand, and the generous donors of garden gnomes came to enrich the collection. We exceed the 30 subjects, and soon it is an Angoumoisine which will bring 15 more. The retirement home is not sad: a little fantasy is good for the memory and for the morale of the residents.
