Residents of Ile-de-France airports are exhausted by the incessant noise of planes. According to estimates, two million people suffer from these nuisances on a daily basis. So some decided to go on the offensive. In particular, they are asking for a cap on flights.
For this resident of Sannois (Val-d’Oise), her life is hell, her house is located just below an air corridor 20 kilometers from Roissy (Val-d’Oise), an incessant noise that doubles glazing hardly attenuates. For 15 years, she has been sleeping in her soundproof cellar. “It’s the only place where I can find sleep”, specifies this local resident. Like her, two million Ile-de-France residents suffer daily nuisances.
Towards a cap?
Same situation in Bordeaux (Gironde), for residents close to Mérignac airport. “I woke up two or three times in the night, […] we are asking for a moratorium for a cap on air traffic to reach a cap”, complains Jean-Claude Godain, president of the AEHDCNA association. A solution that should be implemented from November 2023 at Amsterdam airport. In France, 4 million people are potentially affected by this noise pollution.
